This dissertation aims to unveil the repression the LGBT Community suffered during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship, as well as the ways through witch they resisted. Furthermore, this research verifies the first efforts for the adoption of an LGBT perspective, within the still incipient Brazilian transitional process. Lastly, this study reports the escalation of violence against LGBT people within the democractic period from the authritarian legacies of the dictatorship, which reinforced prejudice and LGBTphobic violence.
