Resumo: The present research aims to investigate the work of female muralists in México through an analysis of their contribution to deconstruct sexist ideologies and reconfigure Mexican visual culture. The objective is to deepen the understanding of different forms of representation of the female figure in Mexican murals, both historically and in contemporary artistic productions that value the role of women as producers of culture and knowledge. Through a critical and analytical approach, nuances, and transformations in the representation of women over time will be explored. To do so, common and distinctive aspects have been identified in relation to works produced by male artists. The intention is to problematize the stereotypes used to perpetuate patriarchy and discuss strategies for overcoming them. Additionally, the case study of contemporary female muralists aims to comprehend the challenges faced by women in artistic production within the context of feminist struggles. The goal is to expand the understanding of gender dynamics in Mexican mural art and its impact on contemporary production, while also fostering discussions about gender equality and female empowerment in history and art.
