This dissertation2 presents a study on the possible effects of the digital technological mediations in Brazilian animation cinema, cutting out transformations in the labor market, with impacts on production models, as well as the consequences caused by the dynamics between its agents and structures. The questions that permeate this study came from empirical observations in the field, whose evidence led to the observation that the same connectivity technologies that accelerated and optimized productions in the first twenty years of the 21st century, also began to serve as drivers of the evasion of professionals from Brazilian studios. However, a new scenario arises, in which, in addition to the professionals who decide to live abroad to work locally in the studios, there is the possibility of dispensing with the need for physical displacement, in a movement that can be understood as a type of digital exodus. In order to scrutinize this contemporary and connected animation industry, it was opted for a qualitative investigation of an exploratory nature, with a multimethodological approach, using empirical observation, bibliographical survey, document analysis, data collection as data collection techniques, information, through questionnaires and testimonies through semi-structured interviews. The concept of technological mediations, which supports this approach, was developed based on the original thought of Harold Innis (2008), in which communication technologies and their forms of use are definers of certain cultural behaviors and practices (with social and economic intersections), of a society or civilization. The theoretical references adopted include authors dealing with new networked economies, such as Manuel Castells, Mark Deuze and Fréderic Martel, as well as texts by professionals working in the animation market, such as Ed Catmull and Alberto Lucena Jr. The research results contribute to expand knowledge about the profile of the Brazilian animation professional, formed basically by young people digitally connected, who although they wish to work in national productions, end up offering their workforce internationally, mainly due to the adverse conditions found in the structures of Brazilian animation production. |
