Introduction: The gender transition is a phenomenon that mobilizes different areas of knowledge. In this scenario, Speech Therapy has been conducting research on voice therapy and the integral health of the transgender population. Objective: to analyze the relationship between vocal self-perception and psyche in transsexual people. Method: multiple case study. Sample: 03 transsexual adults aged between 18 and 40 years. Selection criteria: adults (18 to 44 years old) who self-identify as transgender. Participants were selected using the Snowball method based on indications from subjects who are part of the researcher's social relations. Procedure: Step 1. Sending the access link to the invitation to participate in the research, Free and Informed Consent Form - TCLE and scheduling the individual meeting of the researcher with the participant via whatsapp; Step 2. Individual meeting of the researcher with each subject to collect the free statement (audio recording), present and send the access links to the Trans Woman Voice Questionnaire (TWVQ) and the Beck Anxiety Scale (1991). Results analysis criteria: The free statement was analyzed using the Content Analysis technique according to Bardin (2011). The data referring to the TWVQ and the Beck Anxiety Scale were analyzed according to the templates proposed by the instruments and then the results were related to the testimonies of the subjects. Results: in the free statements, 04 thematic categories stood out: voice, narratives about childhood, trajectory and family. The results of TWVQ indicated positive vocal self-perception only in 01 subject and negative (from lesser to greater degree) in the others. In the Beck Anxiety Scale 02 subjects had a moderate level and 01 a high level. Conclusion: the vocal self-perception of the research subjects demonstrate that the voice has a fundamental role in their gender expressions |
