This study focuses on telecinematic language, a verbal language used in television programs and fiction films (Bednarek; Veirano Pinto; Werner, 2020). While previous research has described the main grammatical features of American television (Berber Sardinha; Veirano Pinto, 2019), British television (Berber Sardinha; Shimazumi, 2020), and American cinema (Veirano Pinto, 2014), none have explored telecinematic language from a semantic perspective, indicating the potential use of corpora for teaching English vocabulary as a foreign language. This dissertation addresses these gaps by creating a telecinematic language corpus and informing foreign language teaching based on Multidimensional Analysis (MDA) and Semantic Class N-grams (SCNG). Additionally, we discuss the implementation of a multimodal/multilingual portal for open science in the humanities, including curating relevant data content for humanities available on the web and in research conducted at LAEL. This study is innovative as it offers a new approach to foreign language teaching, using telecinematic language as a teaching tool, and proposes a digital platform for open science in the humanities |
