Resumo: To answer the question of how the behavior analyst is performing both behaviors demanded from the society: as a therapist and as a researcher, were analyzed in this study reports of clinical intervention that were found in three moments of the Annual Meetings of ABPMC (1997, 2002 and 2007) and published in volumes of the series About Behavior and Cognition (SCC), which correspond to the years selected for analysis. In the reports selected for analysis, it was examined if they attended to the characteristics that would make them not only applications of specific techniques in the area, but also if they reached the requirements of an application, which is also a research. For this reason, it was used Baer, Wolf and Risley s (1968; 1987) criteria. After the identification of the reports based on the reading of titles and abstracts, a full reading of the published articles led to a selection of nine reports which attended the following requirements proposed: to be a clinical intervention and only in the clinical office, to be in the field of behavior analysis (it was excluded the cognitive ones) and be presented in a scientific activity (debate, symposiums, coordinated sessions, posters and oral communication). The selected reports were re-read, which allowed to evaluate their correspondence to Baer et al. s (1968; 1987) criteria. The results showed that, however there are few published reports, even less when they achieve the proposed selection, four of the seven criteria are achieved, at least partly, for all the nine articles. And two of them reached 90% of the given total score, according to the criteria in a four points scale, (from zero, which does not achieve, to three which achieves). It was concluded that it is possible, although it has not been easy, that the behavioral therapist attends to the demands of both communities: the client and the scientific ones
