Resumo: This research identifies and analyzes the modes of presence of people who live in landslide zones on Boulevard da Paz, M’Boi Mirim, south zone of São Paulo. The corpus is the risk area of the Boulevard da Paz neighborhood to which its residents are exposed and, from and in the corpus, it is where the research object is projected, that is, in the constellation of relationships within which there is a complex production of senses in the physical environment that is stated in the research. The research problem is the conscious permanence of a population of thousands of people in an area with a very high risk of disasters who do not have the purchasing power to change their place or house and those who continue, despite having economic conditions, but have affective bonds with other residents. The hypotheses proposed are based on the benefits provided by living in risk areas; in life practices of solidarity; knowledge about disaster risks that empowers the community to do and be able to act; in housing values; the cost of living to live in risky areas; and community practices in trading, bartering or pawning products. The general objective of this research is to apprehend, recognize and categorize the physical environment, Três Marias II, as a producer of messages and meanings about disaster risks through an intersystemic chain of the risk area to which its residents are exposed. And the specific objectives are to analyze the manifestations of disaster risks produced by the physical environment; to analyze through the generative path of meaning of the expressions of risks of the physical environment; and develop a reflection on the formation of more resilient communities to disasters. From this situation, the theoretical foundation is supported by the semiotics of A. J. Greimas and the socio-semiotic developments of E. Landowski that support three paths: the constitutive and its institutions, the protection and surveillance bodies and the situational aspect of the risk area. In the methodology, organized in two parts, the research highlights the sensitive through a logbook of the researcher's presence in the area of risks that treats the object as a statement of experience, and the intelligible, interpreting what the sensitive was gained for result in a sociosemiotic analysis. From the narrativity of the place in the utterance of the experience and the interdisciplinary interfaces, the results show that the search for meaning in living on Boulevard da Paz has two distinct and at the same time interconnected origins. The first consists of the abandonment of the Public Power that manages the political dynamics through clientelism, corporatism, bureaucratic insulation and universalism of procedures and the second is in the hierarchy of regencies in the practices of organized crime and its surreptitious rules, in actions and speeches. of religious and in the political capacity of community leaders who mobilize governments and the community to improve the area in terms of disaster risks
