This Doctoral work, based on the perspective of Socio-Historical Psychology, aimed to investigate the subjective dimension of social inequality, from the choice of university scholars ProUni. We understand the Brazilian social inequality is complex and multifactorial, which must be understood both in its objective dimension, which refers to the actual distribution of social wealth, and in its subjective dimension. However, there are still few studies that are concerned with studying this phenomenon ball inequality. In presenting us investigate this aspect, we try to give visibility to the presence of individuals who together constitute the unequal social reality and are made by it. We have based on the idea that social inequality permeates all social phenomena, among them, the choice of subjects at university. Therefore, the selection is performed in unequal social conditions. We work with four students from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) from those nominated by the university: Education, Social Work, Law and Psychology, with one student from each course. Despite attending the same institution, from the data presented, we observed that the selected courses have students in different social, economic and cultural conditions (best and worst). All students of both genders were finalists of the courses mentioned. We use as instruments a questionnaire aiming to characterize the profile of university students. After, dialogic interviews, as methodological resources, were performed from which we can grasp the subjective dimension of inequality related to choice of university course. From the theoretical approach, we seek, in the words of the subject elements of meaning (sense and meaning), analyzing the information obtained. We observed that social inequality is present in the choice of course \ profession these young people, both the arguments and reasoning of choice, as in the formulation of future professional projects. This is evident in the feeling of victory and aggrandizement which appears in the evaluation of university entry. Young people indicate that, with the choice of university course, expect to exceed what their families have won; overcome family to be better, ie to feel\be seen as superior |
