Resumo: This thesis, results from researches accomplished in the PEPG in Portuguese Languages of PUC-SP, and it has as a theme the changes, which José de Alencar proposes to the production of the Brazilian literary text in the XIX century, in the search of a Brazilian identity. The XIX century was scenes of ideological and policy divergences around the nationalization of the language used in the country. A group of intellectual of Portuguese and Brazilian conservators claimed all the time for a linguistic and a cultural identity for our people, who realized in the Portuguese language of Brazil some peculiarities that were different from the Portuguese language of Portugal. In Iracema work (1865), José de Alencar was one of the writers who introduced own words from the Tupi Language to the literary lexicon from the Portuguese of Brazil and proposed the others Brazilian writers that they did the same as him, in order to the nationalization of our literature. His attitude increased the anger of another group of Portuguese and Brazilian conservators related to the Portuguese Language, thus his novel became one of the works more criticized of our history. The general aim of this thesis is to examine the discourses about the literary linguistics cultural rupture, which happened between Brazil and Portugal in the XIX century, from a historiographic point of view, through the controversy between the writers due to the ideological policy position of José de Alencar in Iracema work, and the linguistics features in the lexicon area. Our specific aims of this thesis are: contextualizing the time when the texts of the criticism of Machado de Assis and Franklin Távora were written; showing the innovations that José de Alencar proposed to the Brazilian Literature in the lexicon area in the work of Iracema (1865); analyzing through the optics of the Discourse Analysis (DA), the polemic texts between Machado de Assis and Franklin Távora around the national literature, which started with José de Alencar in Iracema work (1865); and verifying how the innovative thinking of José de Alencar showed in Iracema work, reverberate until the XXI century, in the work of Ilari and Basso (2017), in Castilho and Elia (2017) and in Houaiss (2009). Our hypothesis is that, when Machado de Assis and Franklin Távora wrote their reviews, they had ideological and policy reasons, beyond literary linguistic ones. To prove this hypothesis, we have as a theoretical and methodological reference, the Historiography of Linguistics, which investigates the changes that are practiced in the language during a certain period in some works, as in Koerner (2014), Pierre Swiggers (2009; 2010; 2013), Altman (2012), Batista (2013) and Bastos (2004); the question of the national language in the XIX century, which has as a point of view the search for the linguistics rupture of Brazil with Portugal, according to Elia (2003), Pinto (1978) and Melo (1972), and the Discourse Analysis, which provides the concepts about the subject, production conditions, discursive formation, ideological formation, ideology, and the power relations contained in the works of Michael Pêcheux (2014) e Eni Orlandi (2010;2015). Thus, we can conclude that José de Alencar introduced words that appeared in the national vocabulary in his work
