The purpose of this paper is to present a reflection on the journalistic covering made by O Estado de S. Paulo about the external politic presented by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva government, during the first mandate. By means of a quantitative and a qualitative analysis of the data it is intended to characterize in an integrative and analytical way the positioning of the vehicle, known for its conservative character. The purpose here is the study of the principles and the lines of direction adopted in the scope of the recent Brazilian external politics in order to draw a parallel with the possible articulations present in the contemporaries Medias
