By understanding the potentiality provided by the education periodic press investigation, it was chosen for this study the analysis of Faculdades Campineiras Magazine. However as representative of the catholic segment, from their pages wideranging subjects emerged, such as the directions of the Brazilian Education, in a period of great debates around the elaboration of the law of guidelines and Bases of the Education (LDB) and the actions from the church with the intention of having a preponderant influence of its proposal: the family right to choose the teaching kind for their children, the catholic schools public subsidy and the religious teaching obligation for public schools. Therefore, in this research the main objective was to delineate the path of the catholic church in its relationship with Education and the Brazilian State, articulating it with the foundation of the Catholic universities, more specifically Faculdades Campineiras , nowadays called PUCCAMP and the creation of the Magazine as a part of the catholic church actions fighting against the enemies: the Liberalism and the Communism, both considered as the two parts of the same coin. The debate happened during the process for approving LDB; as a strategy, the church looked for sympathetic people to its cause among catholic intellectuals, as well as it tried to get closer to the medium sections of the society for a consensus around the catholic values, using among other means, the release of the magazine in order to popularize its ideals |
