Introduction: In the framework of education and health, the actions of training, development and qualification of the worker take a leading role in the practice of people management in the current organizational contexts. Objectives: to evaluate the Continuing Education Service (SEC), a Emergency Room Health Institution, from the perspective of participating nursing staff, on the dimensions of structure, process and outcome, identifying the factors that affect the quality of activities developed at SEC. Material and Methods: The data collection instrument was a questionnaire with a Likert scale, prepared by Cheregatti, which considers the propositions guided by the structure dimensions, process and outcome Model Evaluative Donabedian, adapted to the reality of the place of study. Data were analyzed statistically. Results: A descriptive study, quantitative and exploratory. The participants were 63 nursing professionals, 13 (20.6%) nurses, 38 (60.3%) nursing technicians and 12 (19.0%) nursing assistants. The instrument proved to be reliable in the population studied, the value obtained with the Cronbach's alpha was equal to (0.88). The same test was applied to each dimension, resulting in: (0.66) for Structure, Process and (0.75) to (0.69) for Result. As for the characterization, (61.9%) were female, with an average of (36.8%) years old, the average time since graduation of participants corresponded to 9.1 years and the performance of the institution, the average was 1.8 months. The result was the best evaluated and the process got the worst evaluation. In relation to structure, audiovisual resources were assessed as suitable for training, the professionals working in the SEC are prepared for the development of the work activities, but in insufficient numbers to meet the needs. The location and suitable physical space accommodations, schedules and long time in most training, the provision of teaching materials do not meet the needs of professionals. In the process dimension the way the activities are developed by the SEC favors learning, there was no clarity of respondents the SEC unaware of the training needs, consider that the educational strategies are inadequate, reflected unfavorable that training does not meet the needs team, said that the suggestions and criticisms of the assessments are not met. As regards the size of a result, there was agreement on improving the quality of care resulting from training, more security to carry out their activities and improve the relationship between professionals. Conclusions: These findings make it possible to know the vulnerable points in three dimensions and outline interventions to restructure the SEC, particularly in the process dimension, in order to improve the educational process of training professionals |
