Resumo: |
The dissertation aimed to recover traces of the male homoerotic presence in patients who were hospitalized at the facilities of the National Hospice for Alienated People, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the first two decades of the Old Republic, between the years 1890 to 1910. The research was developed through the selection and analysis of clinical observation books and medical records, including case studies and the support of period literature. With the legacy of the accelerated changes that took place throughout the 19th century in the most varied sectors of society, we also sought to address the dynamics and unity of the discourses built on homoeroticism, understanding how psychiatry used the dominant narrative of the time to to shape and build their repression before subjects with sexuality different from the one proclaimed by adopting a discourse similar to that of the legal environment |
