Resumo: The human being has relational characteristics and develops in the context of interactions. Their participation in groups enables the formation of intense, continuous and reciprocal bonds, generating benefits to the mental health. The necessity to establish relationships gives meanings to the human existence and makes recognize themselves in the world, that’s the reason to understand the importance of producing knowledge about groups and the contributions to therapeutic actions focused on grief. The present study, therefore, is based on three different moments: 1) exploratory study of the literature about the historical contextualization of groups; 2) considerations about scientific publications between 2015 and 2020 about grief support focused on group proposals and offered in Brazil; 3) qualitative analysis about semi-structured interviews made with grief support group coordinators from different parts of Brazil, found from specific filters used in this research. Based on the collected analysis, the study intendeds to a) identify aspects of the cultural competence of psychologists with experience of grief support in group proposals offered in Brazil, which present therapeutic actions for specific demand, e b) evaluate the effectiveness of these experiences, considering Dual Process model as a reference, to reduce bereavement symptoms and facilitate the reinvestment in life and relationships
