Resumo: The objective of this study is to clarify the political-pedagogical basis of Rousseau s contribution to a proposal for the transformation of man. Since we cannot go back to the primitive state, in which passions are calm and needs almost do not exist, Rousseau instigates us to reflect about what constitutes the self of man. Man in society with his internal conflicts and the innumerable needs that this new life promotes is just an image of man, who is not free to be what he really is and cannot transform himself, changing this state of submission to laws and duties that he did not help to build. According to Rousseau, education is an indispensable mean for the transformation of man and is also an appeal for the right to be free, which has been taken from him. Here is the proposal of Rousseau for our generation to reflect upon and, who knows, bring it to practice
