Resumo: |
The proposal of this work is to start from a thorough reading of Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas of Machado de Assis and to find out four discursive levels in the text: the Old Testament discourse, the discourse of Stoic Philosophers, the New Testament discourse and the Christian theologian Aurélio Agostinho, and finally the discourse of French moralists as Voltaire. I will show you the evidences of these discourses in the novel text as well as the characteristics which turn concomitant and similar instances into structural pillars which bear the novel gender, according to Bakhtin s definition. Those structures suggest several discursive approaches, some of them concerning the plot nature, others regarding to a critical way about the sources in which Machado de Assis inspired himself or devoured anthropophagically in order to establish a revolutionary narrative discourse which does not end in those four instances. However, they are like pillars which bear and provide a framework for the greatest acrobat capers . Acrobat capers, this is a way which I would define the style of Machado de Assis, a caper in the air without any rope or protection net towards a joy taken by the discovery of the skill which deludes the reader and leads him to ethereal spaces which are beyond the matter |
