Resumo: |
Master's dissertations and doctoral theses are the results of academic research, defended in postgraduate courses (stricto sensu) and make possible as a science, to legitimize the knowledge of concrete reality, especially in the areas of Social Sciences, confronting them with the relations of cause and effect. In both cases, the researcher will do an important job, using the idea of value at the time, the object of research and the limits of the study. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the contributions to society, from the research stemming from stricto sensu, to urban guidelines, planning and public policies. Was used as instrument a detailed survey of the research carried out between 1990 and 2017, in the area of concentration intrinsic to the definition of the field of Social Sciences: Sociology, of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), to produce statistics (numerical and quantitative descriptions) and qualitative data through the collection of information through various bibliographic databases and sources of information. In this context, the basic research, with a thematic view, was based on an inductive process (explore, describe), where a total of 195 theses and dissertations were obtained in the study period, the area of Sociology, specifically the Urban-Regional Dynamics, Planning and Public Policies research line at the PEPG - Graduate Program in Social Sciences, PUC-SP. The methodology adopted was the explanatory research with qualitative focus, aiming to identify the determinants that contributed to the occurrence and the interest of the phenomena. Scientific and bibliographic methods helped in the processes of interpretation and theoretical analysis, from data collection, statistical production, bibliographical research, qualitative research and explanatory analysis contributed with the dissemination of the results, as well as, it will be relevant for research and consultation of all academic production carried out in PEPG in Social Sciences. In addition, as a subsidy to other students of the other lines of research (State and Socio-Political Systems, Brazilian Ethnology, Institutions, Ideologies and Religions, Materiality, Ideology and Daily Life in Modern Cultures, Social Changes and Social Movements, Symbolic Production and Cultural Reproduction ) presents the bibliographic references of the studies, offering the primary data that will support the accomplishment of numerous studies, where a total of 1,903 theses and dissertations were obtained, in the period 1973-2017, in the three areas of concentration (Anthropology, Politics and Sociology). It is concluded, among other aspects, that dissertations / theses, in all areas, but specifically in Sociology, identify urban and social patterns, provide contents and potential meanings and that should not be considered as a work of conclusion and rather, "science contributes to clarity," because they disseminate facts, data, provide methods of thinking, and provide a solid first step for consultation, evaluation and application, whether for society or for public policy |
