The research aims to study the Pilgrimage of São Sebastião that takes place in the city of Ibiúna (SP) from the multiple experiences lived by the participants. Passing through memo-ries, values, meanings, life trajectories, disputes and interests. The study is developed mainly through Oral History articulated to the analysis of the newspapers A Vanguarda de Ibiúna and Voz de Ibiúna, the book Tombo (archives book) of the parish of Nossa Senhora das Dores, the minutes of the City Hall and the digital collection of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo state. It seeks to understand the experiences of these historical subjects in the relations estab-lished with other social groups: the public power, the newspapers and the church. In 1997, it was found that the Pilgrimage of São Sebastião became part of the political project defended by the municipal administration in transforming the city of Ibiúna into a Tourist Resort of the State of São Paulo, a purpose that became concrete in 2000. Thus, from analysis of the sources, it was possible to demonstrate the different meanings that the Pilgrimage of São Se-bastião assumes for the different social groups involved, integrating a field of tensions and conflicts |
