Resumo: |
The Law of Guidelines and Bases of Education determines that higher education must provide students with training which can lead to the labor market a professional with scientific spirit, reflective thinking, creative and able to solve daily business problems. Thus, the high quality teaching should be the fundamental task of educational institutions across the country. The process of teaching and learning should be developed to encourage these required qualities in the student as well as motivate him to learn, allowing him to build his own knowledge. The Case Method offers the stimulus to critical thinking, problem-solving skills and learning of concepts in the area. In this method, teaching has the student as the focus and through case studies provides a contact with the reality of companies, and so, motivating him for learning. This paper aims to verify the contribution of the case method for teaching accounting. A survey was developed with coordinators of the accounting course and the implementation in a discipline of the Accounting Course of a Higher Educational Institution was possible. The results of the survey with coordinators show that the method contributes to a better development of students, motivating them and encouraging them to a more active role in learning and developing critical thinking and judging skills. Regarding the implementation of the method of cases, the results show that students have acquired knowledge in the subject they were taught, developed skills and gained confidence |
