This study is analyzed in the social reports and sustainability reports used in banks. The main objective of this research is to analyze the social statements of the Bank of Brazil in the period 2010 to 2014 to identify how the institution has and demonstrates its investments in social responsibility. Therefore see whether the Bank of Brazil is a textbook example of sustainability and social responsibility. As a working method began a literature review about concepts such as social responsibility and sustainable development in order to make possible the understanding of the subject. Research was conducted to meet the specific objective to know the functioning of the national financial system and the role of the Bank of Brazil. The social and identified balance models used by the bank which were surveyed. The social reports published by the bank was studied through vertical and horizontal analysis to understand the evolution of investment in five years and the relationship between these investments and the net revenue. The result of the research showed that the Bank of Brazil constantly invests in several areas of social responsibility, but there is much difference between investment categories
