Resumo: Accounting is a social science whose fundamental objective is to generate information that add value for decision and that is a reliable representation of the entity's economic and financial reality. Given this, the choice of the best approach for the valuation of the biological assets is fundamental, because in the case of live animals, for example, they are subject to biological transformations that may change its value and consequently the financial statements. Several companies in the rural segment need to apply in practice the CPC29 / IAS41 Biological Assets and Agricultural Product, using the fair value methodology, however miss instructive models. The objective of the research applying CPC29 / IAS 41 Biological Assets through a case study is directed to understand the difficulties of this application in a company that supplies genetic material for broiler chicken, evidencing the methodology, through the peculiarities of the sector due to the fact that it is the beginning of production chain and the relevance in case of any adjustment to fair value in relation to the historical cost. The qualitative descriptive and documental research conceptualized the theme and the peculiarities of the sector. After restricted analysis of the decision tree for biological asset evaluation developed and applied calculation model based on income approach through the discounted cash flow method approved by the company´s external auditors. The model is applied for biological related to day old chicks at fair value, however, with restrictions on the application to the different lines in the genetic pyramid and the impact of fair value adjustment proved relevant. Besides that, it was created a written procedure for process identification and calculation and this model can be applied by domestic and international companies
