Resumo: In this work we conduct research on the significations that young students who attend integrated high school constitute about professional education, aiming to investigate the subjective dimention of this kind of high school schooling process. We seek to know the young students’ perspective, how they relate with their schooling process, which significations they constitute about this kind of high school and how they associate this process with the building of professional future. We adopt as theoretical approach the sociohistorical psychology, and we perform the data analysis through the nuclei of meaning’s formation. The research procedure is group conversation, with ten students between 15 and 16 years old, which attended by the time the second year of technical school integrated to high school, in a federal network campus in São Paulo state. We conclude that when the students search for better future conditions through the schooling process, they do not differ from students of other studies in the field. However, the choice for an integrated technical course is related to the perception of teaching quality. Such a quality is understood as a possibility to provide an approval in an entrance exam and access to higher education. This allows us to state that the better aimed future by the youngsters, which is reflected in the family expectation, is related to the access to higher education, what they consider as an important condition to acquire better qualification for the job. According to the youngsters’ speech, the Family (and the social environment) influence the choice for professional education to the extent that they value this education modality, whether because this path was taken by someone close, and is perceived as facilitator of employability, or because it is a quality education, financially accessible to those who cannot afford to pay for a private school. High school integrated to technical school is perceived as a course that requires a lot of dedication, because it is a full-time course, has a dense timetable, qualities attributed to a good course; they perceive their dedication as students to be a guarantee of future success
