Resumo: This thesis aims to analyse the socio-environmental crimes committed in Mariana, Brumadinho and other locations reached by a toxic mud from the collapse of dams upstream of mining activity, respectively in 2015 and 2019, and the main developments on the media visibility of Vale S/A between 2015 and 2021. This research corpus is thus formed by these crimes. During this period, the credibility and reliability of the corporation were deeply affected by the proliferation of such news. The structuring of this research has begun with what was reported by both media Valor Econômico and IstoÉ, by the corporation itself, and by the results obtained during this investigation, which is linked to the research line "regimes of meaning in the communication processes”. At a time when so many values are being reviewed by society, with repercussions in the fields of communication and semiotics, it is essential to to understand how one of the largest mining companies in the world, which has several global partnerships, took 289 people into death and devastates entire localities in important regions, but remains unpunished for several years after that, benefited by the slowness of Brazilian Justice, and how media has treated that issue. This breach of the trust agreement entered into among Vale S/A, its stakeholders and society also allows several studies related to the corporation's reputation in the face of a dysphoric process, forcing the company to review and strengthen all control, governance and compliance procedures, as well as adjusting its communication process with main regard to reparative measures and reputational crisis management. In these times, it should be noted that large corporations have revised their discourses and practices in order to be strategically aligned with ESG principles, whether in terms of “to be” or “to seem”. All is analyzed based on the theoreticalmethodological procedures of socio-semiotics and what Landowski (2014) defined as meaning (p. 19), interaction (p. 19) and risk regimes (pp. 81-101), promoting axiological discussions and evaluation of veridictory modalities. One of the main results of this analysis – and which, at first, was not foreseen – was the detection of countless invisibilities throughout this process, which in the analysis of media is linked to the unsaid. Finally, in carrying out this research, a constant dialogue is promoted between authors such as Algirdas Julien Greimas, Eric Landowski and Ana Claudia de Oliveira, who are the main theoretical support of the problem under analysis
