Resumo: |
The purpose of this research is to understand the challenges involved in the professional performance of male coordinator in the Child Education Centers. This study also intends to: (1) characterize the group of male professionals who work in the management of Child Education Centers in the city of São Paulo; (2) relate the proportional quantity among managers, men and women, within the scope of the Municipal Infant Education Network of the city of São Paulo; (3) identify situations experienced by the individuals who have the potential to highlight the positive and negative aspects of male management in Early Childhood Education. The hypothesis that guides this research emerges from the historicity of child care as a feminine attribution (LOURO, 1997), in which it was agreed, among some unfolding situations, that men are not biologically and socially able to perform functions in the Child Education spaces and, therefore, their presence in these contexts generates "oddities" for the other employees and community. This study was carried out on the basis of qualitative research in the content analysis approach to understand the phenomena reported by professionals in relation to their performance in this educational environment, either by recovering from their memories or by self-describing the actions they carry out with their teams. The male managers who work at the Centers for Early Childhood Education in the city of São Paulo were selected as subjects of this study with a view to dimensioning the Municipal Education Network for the male occupation and through the stressful episodes experienced by the them themselves throughout their professional trajectory, seeking to understand if there are situations of discrimination and prejudice in the reported conflicts. As for the production of data, an electronic questionnaire was used, organized and constructed from the qualitative analysis of the data obtained on the Municipal Education Department website, as well as considering parts of the contributions of related researches that structure this study. The analysis of the data was inspired by the procedures present in the analysis cycle methodology (MORAES, 2003). Theoretically, the research is based on authors who discuss multiculturalism and the relations of gender. Besides that, there are other researchers who discuss the issues of identity and difference, of systems of exclusion and inequality, as well as the mechanisms of reproduction and violence, all reflected by the cultural perspective. As a result, four major challenges were detected that cross the daily life of the managers in the Early Childhood Centers, as well as the absence of developmental practices that support the actions of these professionals in the stressful context in which they operate. In this sense, this research makes some considerations about aspects related to the elaboration of formative actions that may possibly assist the managers of their functions and in the constitution of their professional identity |
