Resumo: The research addresses the sociocultural dimension of sexuality in Nelson Rodrigues' chronicles of the column "A vida como ela é ...", published in the newspaper Ultima Hora, between 1951 and 1961, in contrast to the fait divers published in this same newspaper. In order to investigate how sexuality appears and is invested in the discourse record of the analyzed support. As sexuality is a social construction subject to different meanings, historically constituted within systems of social representations, the thesis tried to understand how the issue of sexuality is (re) treated in textual genres (chronicles and news), impregnated with concepts and classificatory elements and classifiers, which constitute sexual representations. More than a portrait / mirror of an era, it seeks to rescue the descriptive record of the culture of a period, paying attention to the analysis of the theme of sexuality and the symbolic dimension present in the polysemy of the chosen journalistic texts. Starting from the foucaultian concept of archive, we undertake an exercise in restoring historicity to a way of existing given by the representations of sexualities and by the knowledge systems that underpinned such representations so that they could circulate freely in one of the most widely published periodical in the country
