Resumo: The religiosity of students entering the Higher Education of the Adventist University Center of São Paulo was this work object of study having as reference Georg Simmel’s texts. This author, who lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was one of the German sociologists who discussed religion from an innovative perspective for his time. From his work, it was possible to establish a scheme of analysis that included the categories: religious a priori, religiosity, mysticism, piety, faith and religion. Using this matrix, and the Stefan Huber Religious Centering Scale (CRS) as an instrument, a highvalue religiosity was perceived in the group of students in belief in God, the importance of prayer and identification with a religious tradition, but experiencing lower rates at service attendance and social actions. These results seem to partly reflect the influence of the Adventist higher education model based on the doctrinal foundations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and on the other hand, the social changes that have taken place in recent years
