Resumo: |
During the Second World War, the need for a mobile and reliable communications technology, led to the adoption of radio frequency controlled by quartz. The Quartz Crystal Coordination Section was created by the communication division of the American Army to coordinate the demands related to the implementation of this technology. This Section was instrumental for development of the quartz oscillator industry, promoting the cooperation between the military, scientists, and manufacturers. One of the scientists involved in this war effort was the mineralogist Clifford Frondel (1907-2002). Through the analysis of his publications at the time, and other documents, we intend to verify his contributions to the development of this industry |
