Resumo: |
This research is a bibliographic one and one of its main challenges is to map and reflect on the academic production about teaching and learning inequalities. A big amount of postgraduate dissertations and mathematics education conferences, and the accessibility to the different ways of communication allow the rise of researches that could be not known, and thus lose the content and the extent of these collaborations, not only to improve the teaching and the learning of mathematics, but to consolidate this knowledge area. In this context, the inequality concept offers the opportunity of approach others concepts as real number properties, logical connectors, quantifiers, order of numbers, algebraic equivalences and transformations. Besides it is a concept the study of which starts in the basic levels and could be extended to postgraduate level in an exact sciences program. This work arises from the chain of these visualizations. In order to face the challenge, we use Content Analysis as well as mixed methods to analyze collected data. The construction of the map was made with computerized data, CD-ROM from national and international events, and journals and printed works taken from libraries, besides of direct contact with some authors. With the objective of relate or link several characteristics of the reviewed work, and construct general research lines, the data is organized in three tables according to the a priori and rising categories. The results in the first table, constructed with bibliographic data, give the movement, time, space and authors. With these data, mainly through the titles, we reflect, for instance, on the genesis of the topic, approaches, research methodology, adopted theoretical references, kind of inequalities more often used to collect data, and the school level of the participants in the recollection. The second table, made up with the readings of the works and, specially, of some abstracts, allow to deepen the results of the first one and to know the goals of the published works, the educational and mathematical theoretical references, and the research or field methodologies. The third one takes into account the conclusions and results of the works, pointing out the different ways in which the topic of inequalities are approached, the nature of mistakes, the methodological aspects of teaching, and the reflective questions. In this stage, because of the amount of information, we used the software NVIVO 09. At the end, we create and analized 44 categories and subcategories. In the works prevail the mistake accounting, the ways in which students solve and interpret inequalities, field researches, and linear and quadratic inequalities. The researches are disseminated in all of the continents and it still is a topic that worries the researchers community. Thus, we claim that research about teaching and learning inequalities could and should be widen and deepen by the community of researchers on mathematics education |
