Resumo: This research had as objective to study the meaning of the hearing impairment and of the hearing aids usage by the elderly. For this, we made an option to a qualitative perspective of knowledge production, using as method the analysis of the discursive practices as a way of understanding the production of meaning in daily life (Spink, Medrado, 2004). The emotions expressed by the participants had shown the significant impact of the hearing impairment and of the use of the hearing aids in their lives.
