Resumo: In the current world scenario, in which the desire of building a society that claims for an effective promotion of plain conditions for the development of human potentialities is present, questions related to the inclusion of people with disabilities have been under the spot. With the increase of discussions and actions in an inclusive society, studies, researches and wide review of literature indicate that there is an important lack in the questions related to low vision, particularly to those related to the educational process. Under this point of view, the purpose of the present study is to identify the senses and meanings that the students with low vision give to their scholar challenges. The method used consisted in a qualitative research, according to a social-historical approach, which goal is to apprehend the senses and meanings built by the subject, beyond appearances and facts. The subject of this research was a young lady, with low vision, with a superior degree, and that uses special optical resources in her study/work environment. The instruments used to data collection were a semi-structured interview and episodes of the subject s history of life. The analysis remitted to important considerations regarding the impact of low vision and its meanings in the constitution of the identity and reflexions concerning inclusive education
