This research is about women in situation of prostitution operating in the central region of Santo Amaro - São Paulo, specifically nearby Largo Treze de Maio. It investigates the religious trajectory of six women noting the relationship of the same religion, the place that it occupies in their lives since the early years of existence until the current moment. The first chapter describes the historical context of prostitution, the different meanings and understandings that the phenomenon acquires throughout the history of mankind. The second chapter presents the reality of prostitution in Santo Amaro, showing the different modalities of brothels and the profile of the women who work in these places. The third chapter analyzes the data collected from the gender relations, using as category: religion of origin, religion in adult life and the place of religion in the lives of women after entering into prostitution |
