Thinking about masculinities is a challenge, which involves the concept of gender and femininities, given their relational character. From the perspective of the theoretical framework of systemic psychology, this research aims to understand the meanings attributed to masculinities, through the narrative expressions of men, collected on the social network Reddit, which offers an anonymous environment where users can freely express their beliefs. To meet the proposed objective, a qualitative research with a narrative approach was developed. Data analysis was aided by the IRaMuTeq software and then a thematic analysis of the information was carried out, which generated the following thematic categories: Difficulties and coping strategies; What is being a man and family relationships, Relationships with the feminine and sexuality and Masculinities and their relationships with pornography. The results appreciated the prevalence of narratives, whose meanings refer to the standards of traditional masculinity, but brought debates on the subject and men seeking new ways of relating. They showed how important it is to name what it is to be a man and seek a reference, especially in the family of origin, but the heteronormative model offered is brought up as problematic. Regarding the relationship with the feminine and sexuality, worn-out relationships were observed, possibly due to constructed ideals and desires for male hegemony. Pornography, especially if consumed in excess, was considered problematic, as it generates a decrease in sexual interest in real relationships, leading to the search for extreme content. Men's physical and mental health calls for care. Topics such as violence, sexual health, identity, family and relational issues were exposed in this research. However, this is a specific group of men, which refers to the judicious use of the findings and indicates the need for further research that considers intersectionality in the reception of meanings to masculinities |
