Resumo: |
The purpose of this essay is to place Brentano and, more specifically, his work Psychology from an Empirical Standpoint (PES) from 1874 within the scope of the discussion regarding the status of psychology as an autonomous science. To this end, this work is composed of two parts: 1) a contextualization of the establishment and development of the problem and 2) a presentation of the Brentanian response to the status quaestiones as updated in his time. For this purpose, we are going to use a historical-philosophical approach that seeks to recover crucial points of the discussion about the establishment of psychology as a science in order to contextualize Brentano’s philosophy as well as its contribution to this discussion. The relevance of this research rests on the attempt, even if modest, to contribute to studies of the origins of contemporary philosophy that has Brentano as one of its founders |
