Resumo: |
This thesis is about the study of metaterm “adverb” and it s part of História e Descrição da Língua Portuguesa Research Line conducted by Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo). The general aim of this study is to analyze the continuum of the metaterm based on three grammars, considering the time these works were published. The timeline considered is based on the enactment of the Brazilian Grammatical Nomenclature (NGB), which took place in 1959, a time crucial to the establishment of a grammar system in the 20th century. Main objectives of this paper: check continuity aspects in the conception of the metaterm “adverb” promoting the dissemination of the History of Linguistic Ideas through the application of its methodological principles; analyze if and in which way the NGB intervened in the conception of these words in both grammars produced from the second half of the 20th century on in relation to the one published before this document and compare and describe the metaterm “adverb” in the three selected works. This analysis is based on two corpora: a pre-NGB material, composed of the book Gramática Metódica da Língua Portuguesa (1943) by Napoleão Mendes de Almeida and a post-NGB material, composed of the book Moderna Gramática Portuguesa (1967 [1961]) by Evanildo Bechara and Gramática do Português Brasileiro (2016 [2010]) by Ataliba T. de Castilho. As for the theoretical framework, this work underlies theoretical-methodological principles by Auroux (2014 [1992]), Fávero and Molina (2006), and by Colombat, Fournier and Puech (2017). In general, the outcomes show a minimal change in the conception of the metaterm “adverb” as a result of the NGB enactment in two of the grammars analyzed. However, contemporary discussions raised by text linguistics and a multisystemic approach to the language have generated changes in the conception of the adverb in a third grammar |
