Resumo: This study, which falls within the field of Applied Linguistics, has the general objective of investigating whether the Think Aloud Group literacy practice can significantly contribute to pique the interest, in members of a book club, for reading poems and short stories. Based on the general objective defined, the research questions were: 1) in what aspects can the Think Aloud literacy practice contribute to the construction of meaning in poems and short stories? and 2) what is the repercussion of the Think Aloud literacy practice for adults who already have the habit of reading? To answer these questions, I used studies on literacy and reading (SOARES, 2018, 2019; ROJO, 2009; LERNER, 2002), social reading and literacy practices (SOARES, 2020; ZANOTTO, 1995, 2014; STREET, 2014; ROJO, 2009), reading processes (KLEIMAN, 2011; KATO, 1985), literary reading (PINHEIRO, 2018; COSSON, 2006, 2014), and dialogism epistemology (GERALDI, 2013; BAKHTIN, 2010), among other authors. This is a qualitative study, guided by the interpretivist paradigm, in which the strategy used was an instrumental case study (STAKE, 1998) and that had as participants, members of a book club. The techniques used to generate data were the Think Aloud Group (ZANOTTO, 1995, 2014) and semi-structured or non-standardized group interviews (LÜDKE; ANDRÉ, 2013). The meetings were held in a web environment, focusing on the reading of poetry and short story literary genres, and the texts analyzed were the poem "Destruição" (Destruction), and the short story "A imagem no espelho" (The Image in the Mirror), both by Carlos Drummond de Andrade. My participation, as a researcher, was as mediator of the experiences. The results showed that the practice of Think Aloud Groups, based on the reading and discussion of the genres in question, developed a reflective look in the participants, as well as greater confidence and motivation to share their interpretations and construct the meanings of the text. Furthermore, it piqued their interest in reading and disseminating poetry, as a genre, in other contexts in which they participate, as well as the desire to research and learn about the authors’ biographies
