Resumo: Part of the history of São Paulo city covers the period of the passage from the 19th to 20th centuries. The railroad and the factory complexes operations, since 1860, defined a typology of neighborhoods and a way of living distinct from those perceived until this period. Problems such as traffic, supplies and housing were different in the central regions and within the poor conditions of the places close to the rivers. A fundamental particularity that definitely marked the central region of the capital was the rectification of the rivers Tamanduateí and Tietê. In this context, Pari Courtyard and its warehouses, nearby the central area, constructed by the engineer Adolpho Augusto Pinto as a worker of Santos Jundiaí Railway - the São Paulo Railway, are the matter of this research, for, based on its creation in the 19th century, we intend to demonstrate how the railway complex was inserted in this environment, in addition to the circulation of foodstuffs and other goods, in the dimension of a city in constant urban changes such as São Paulo of the period in question and the presence of English immigration in this context. This research has as its fundamental aim the bringing of a contribution for historiography with the history of this urban equipment, hoping that it can trigger new questionings covering themes as economic, social and cultural history focused on the urban center of São Paulo
