Resumo: The sacred umbanda, according to Rubens Saraceni, uses ritual magic for purposes such as healing, protection, and spiritual balance, although its practices may vary between different terreiros and branches of Umbanda. This research examines how magic integrates into the religious system of sacred umbanda, investigating whether it is indeed a structuring element of this branch, focusing on the centrality of magical practices in the worldview and rituals presented in Saraceni's works. Through a bibliographic analysis of Saraceni's key works, the study explores the intersection between the sacred and the magical in sacred umbanda, highlighting the importance of magical-religious practices. This analysis allowed an understanding of how magic is incorporated into sacred Umbanda, contributing to the formation of a unique identity and practices that strengthen the connection between practitioners and the sacred, thus promoting a cohesive and dynamic religious system. In Saraceni's view, magic is a central and structuring element, essential for spiritual practice, connection with the divine, and the autonomy of practitioners. His systematization of sacred umbanda provides a deeper and more practical understanding of magic, consolidating its vital role within this religious tradition
