Resumo: | The aim of this study is to determine to what extent the construction of character in the documentary Jogo de cena (2007)1, directed by Eduardo Coutinho, contributes to an understanding of the film’s narrative. Our theoretical approach to character is based upon two perspectives – the content of the interviews and the way in which they are realized on screen. The second line of theoretical inquiry relates to an examination of the cinematic narrative, taking into account such elements as description, imaginary and narration.The study also includes an examination of the concept of documentary and its place within the works of the director Eduardo Coutinho. The methodology adopted is that of film analysis, the purpose of which is to unravel the subject being examined in order to reconstruct it according to the point of view formulated in the study. |
