Resumo: Due to a high movement of people and transactions with large amounts of money, Bank Institutions have been the target of robberies and its employees, potential victims, have become vulnerable to present some degree of psychological distress. Personality traits seem to affect the ability of victims in regard to coping with stress generated from a traumatic experience, as well as the presence of symptoms that seem to cause distress on personal and professional life. Given this matter, this master's dissertation, organized in two sessions, aims at examining the aspects of personality and ways of coping with stress in bank robbery victims on the place in which they conduct their work activities. The first section consists of a literature review on the subject of robbery in the workplace and its psychological consequences. The study was based on the research of scientific production on the PsycINFO, Medline/Pubmed and LILACS databases over the last fifteen years, using different keywords combinations. Most studies indicate the presence of psychopathological symptoms in robbery victims in the workplace. Moreover, regarding personality, the presence of evidences of low self-esteem, difficulties in interpersonal relationships and affection was shown in this review. Regarding coping strategy, there was an indication of greater suffering on the victims who used different strategies in alternate ways. The second section comprises a cross-sectional descriptive study, which was implemented with a sample of 21 bank employees who were victims of robbery in the institution where they carried their jobs. This study sought to identify personality traits relevant to Interpersonal Relationships, Affection, Self-Esteem and Stress Control. For this purpose, the instruments used were a Personal and Socio-demographic Data Sheet, the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview - MINI Plus and the Rorschach Method - Comprehensive System. The results show that the participants do not have problems related to self-esteem, perhaps due to the time elapsed between the robbery and the evaluation. However, it was also identified that certain difficulties regarding interpersonal relationships (passive approach to begin an approximation to other people), affection (low interest in processing emotional stimuli) and stress-management (psychic overload coupled with a failure to reflect about people‟s needs and experiences). In general, both sections of the dissertation highlight the importance of considering the assessment of personality after experiencing a robbery in the workplace.
