Resumo: The study investigated learning in Mathematics, through the construction of knowledge of the concepts of matrices, determinants and linear systems, using the spreadsheet as a resource. The development of research occurred in the first half of 2010 with high school students from a private school in Porto Alegre. The study was a comparison of two groups working in rotation with or without the use of the spreadsheet. The research methodology was qualitative with textual analysis of the data and had as theoretical support the Ausubel's meaningful learning, and the teaching methodology was based on the problem solving according to Polya. The study was conducted in the form of an interdisciplinary project with the disciplines of Physics, Biology and Physical Education. The main results were that: a problem solving approach aggregate to the use of spreadsheet was well accepted by students, strengthened the group activities, improved learning and awakened a taste for the study of Mathematics in students who had reservations to its learning earlier.
