This study intends to analyse the literary creation process using the perspective of the Genetic Criticism. The research developed in this dissertation is about the manuscripts of the novel Memórias do Astuto Dentista, by Moacyr Scliar. Our proposal is to observe the genesis of the text that is in process of creation, looking to the manuscripts of short stories and scripts that compose our prototext. Thus, concatenating the leaves of these redactional documents, we find that there is a text ampliation from the first short story to the second one. There is a second text ampliation that occurs because of the restructuring made when there were found the scripts of the text in a nascent state. Therefore, there is a change of textual genre, from the short story to the novel. For our analysis, we use theoreticians of genetic criticism such as Pierre-Marc de Biasi, Daniel Ferrer, Almuth Grésillon, Anne Herschberg Pierrot, etc, that elucidate us to understand the writing movements.
