This work intends to show how the crisis of legality, that happenned in Porto Alegre between 25th August and 13th September 1961, was represented by the photojounalists of the Última Hora Riograndense newspaper and their photographs. The question researched is about how the photographers acted and represented that particular context of institutional crisis, given the technical conditions of photography itself. Also, we intended to know how this press professionals standed in front of the social and political interests of that historical moment. This dissertation also questions the making of the news and the place of the photographic image in the press, as well as its role in the building of social meaning.
