Resumo: | This dissertation tackles the management of reactive power in distribution systems using the concept of centralized control of power factor as a DMS (Distribution Management System) function. The methodology developed uses two fuzzy controllers in cascade with the purpose to coordinate the operation of capacitor banks and synchronous generators in the medium voltage distribution network. The aim is to ensure an adequate range of power factor and reactive power, using as control variables the power factor violation, the sensitivity of the equipment and the positions of control devices. The methodology was implemented in Matlab using the fuzzy logic toolbox. The voltage control is treated as a local controller and it is provide for voltage regulators and under load tap change transformer. Power factor violations, voltage levels and overloads are monitored for a power flow routine. The results and analysis of simulations of two distribution tests systems showed the effectiveness of the proposed model to maintain the operational limits within ranges suitable for both the electric utility and costumers. |
