This dissertation is the result of an ethnographic research about the environment of the Emergency Hospital of Porto Alegre. Was adopted for the topicalization, an approach that focuses on space as a category of analysis, adding to it the dynamics of interactions, the daily presence of symbols and practice of decomposition of the working time. Its main objective was to capture in a comprehensive perspective, the representations that the ambience takes on multiple networks that arise in daily life of the institution. The study reveals part of relations of power and hierarchy that cross the organization, and brings into focus the practice of subversion, for their employees, in spaces that are designed for health care.
