Resumo: The business environment presents several kinds of enterprises in response to the high speed of demands from the market and, on that regard, requesting that organizations compete for complexity, meaning that it should compete by value aggregation on its organizational competencies. Based on that scenario, on the one hand there is the interorganizational cooperation as a competitive alternative to small and medium enterprises, and on the other hand, the competencies, which notion is articulated to the complexity of the idea of differentiation and of the value aggregation. For that reason, articulating the intrinsic concepts of the networking cooperation, along with the theory of the competencies, this dissertation has the main objective to identify the contribution of the associated enterprises under the perspective of value aggregation of the competencies from a network of interorganizational cooperation. As methodology the case study was chosen with explanatory approach, and in order to collect the data, interviews, focus group, documents and observation were used. The study was realized on a network of horizontal cooperation of the construction materials on the retail segment in the south region of the Rio Grande do Sul state in Brazil. The results of the research indicates eight competencies of the cooperation network with five levels of complexity in each one of them, as well as demonstrating that the companies show different levels of value aggregation in relation to the competencies of the cooperation network in which they belong. It was verified that the cooperation network studied and the respective associated companies have developed and compete on the market by complexity and on a different way comparing to the network competencies, and each enterprise aggregates value in different levels of complexity.
