Resumo: This PhD thesis aimed to investigate the predictive biopsychosocial factors for treatment bonding and quality of life of HIV-positive people who are successfully follow the treatment. For this purpose, three sections have been presented, one of which is theoretical and the other two are based in the empirical results. The section I debates the repercussion of Health Psychology’s biopsychosocial model and public health’s principles fro treatment bonding in this population. The section II reports the descriptive, transversal and co-relational empiric study which has objectified the characteristics of the sample through the clinical (viral load and count of CD4+ T lymphocytes) and socio-demographical data; evaluate the psychosocial aspects: level of anxiety, level of depression and perceived stress, social support and quality of life of this sample of HIV-positive people. Moreover, it has correlated clinical and socio-demographical with the biopsychosocial aspects mentioned above. The sample had 120 HIV-positive people, male and female, from 18 to 65 years old, undergoing antiretroviral treatment. The assessment instruments used are the following: questionnaire on clinical situation and socio-demographical data , Beck depression inventory, Beck anxiety inventory, Perceived stress scale (PSS), Social support scale for HIC-positive people, World Health Organization questionnaire on quality of life (WHOQOL-HIV Bref) and the CEAT-VIH – questionnaire on evaluating antiretroviral treatment bonding. The results point out that social support relates to treatment bonding. It’s also possible to highlight that the social network attenuates episodes of stress when living with this illness. The section III reports the empirical study which has investigated the predictive factors for protecting treatment bonding in this population. The sample and the instruments are the same as in section II.In this stage, presenting the predictive factors via statistical analysis of chi-square association and logistic regression has been prioritized. The results indicate the following predictive aspects of bonding protection: social class, perceived HIV stage, dominium I – physical and dominium V – environment and quality of life. The survey of this thesis shows the importance of social support, having access to health services, gathering information about the illness, feeling well about physical health and environment where he/she lives as well as safety. The aspects described above concern quality of life and protection of the maintenance of health for treatment bonding. For this purpose, health psychologists and researchers need to propose strategies and actions toward public health in order to fortify the treatment, according to the results of this research in addition to others which corroborate the predictive factors of success for treatment bonding. In this manner, the attention should be from the perspective of the biopsychosocial model in order to enhance the quality of life and a healthy lifestyle of the HIV-positive people.
