Resumo: | This paper follows the rules proposed by the Graduate Program in Psychology at PUCRS and is divided in two studies. The first study, untitled Psychosocial aspects of parenting and the father. s and mother. s perception about their Children, reviews the literature about the psychosocial aspects of parenting as well as the father and mother. s perception about their children. The study aims to: 1) discuss the different roles played by the man and the woman in the family; 2) discuss the parent-child relationship and 3) discuss the differences in terms of father. s and mother. s understanding about their children behavior. To identify relevant studies it was carried out a search in the standard computerized databases such as SCIELO, LILACS and PsycINFO. The key terms used were motherhood and fatherhood. There are three times more studies about motherhood than fatherhood, revealing that despite the advances in the modern world, the mother still plays an essential part in issues related to parenting and child development. Furthermore, this study presents the intrinsic role played by the man and the woman in the family and how they influence their parenting skills and consequently, the way they perceive and pronounce themselves about their children. The second study is untitled Agreement between Fathers and Mother. s Report to Children Behavior Problems through the CBCL, aimed to verify the agreement between the mothers. and fathers. reports about their children behavior through the Child Behavior Check List (CBCL). The results show that fathers and mother. s perception about their children had low to moderate agreement when asked to report about their children behavior. The cultural and socials aspects of the results were discussed as well as the different roles played by the man and the woman, regarding to parenting, confirming the findings of the international literature about the subject. |
