Eletronic means of communication have been digitalized in most parts of the world. That will cause economic, political and cultural changes, not to mention the legal changes implied. This research aims at antecipating the challanges concerning the changes in the contents and programmes broadcasted by digital television; which Brazil might face as it aims at substituting the analogical televison system for a digital one. For that matter, we will be analyzing “Jornal Interativo”, accesible on the website of allTV. We have chosen this programme because Brazil has not yet produced any programme specially tailored for our new platform. The “analysis of contents”, developed by Laurence Bardin, will conduct us to an analysis of “Jornal Interativo”. Our reflexions upon the subject will be based on some of the concepts advocated by Marshall McLuhan. The ideas of Dominique Wolton have also been of great value for this dissertation since both him and Mcluhan have theorized upon the means of communication of the masses of the twentieth century. It can not be forgotten that, at times, they present different points of view upon a particular subject. Dominique Wolton goes further on his analysis of both the television and the mass means of communication, focusing on the impact of new technologies upon our society.
