The materialization of the ethic-political project of Social Service in the education process, in the graduation courses of Social Service in the state of Rio Grande do Sul is the main issue of this thesis, which purpose was to analyze if the Social Service courses guarantee the materialization of the Ethic-political Project in the professional education process, in the perspective of contributing to the professional qualification and to empower the project. So, a qualitative survey was conducted, complemented with quantitative data, characterized as a study of exploratory and descriptive case, based on the dialectic-critical method. Approximation and separations were searched between what is predicted in the nowadays curriculum directions and what is actually done in the education process, in order to contribute to the creation of strategies of approximation and surpassing of possible existing gaps. To define the sample, the decision was on the non-probalistic sampling, by type. So, seven distinctive institutional organizations were chosen. As subjects of the survey, there were docent and student representations, as well as the Politic-Pedagogic Projects of each of the seven graduation schools. So, semi-structured interviews were made and the tool used was a form with open and closed questions and, for the documental survey, an instruction guide was used. The data analyzes is characterized by the “content analyzes” by Bardin. The result of these data demonstrates that the professional education does not enable to the materialization of the professional ethic-political project. So, the need to broaden the debate upon the social direction that is being constituted in the professional process is signalized, rescuing the paradigm of class fight, in order to strengthen the resistance against a merchant education that weakens the professional project. Also, the need to progress in investigation actions about the theme is indicated, in order to create observation channels, studies and analyzes about the Ethic-political Project of Social Service and the implication of the education process for its materialization.
