Resumo: Concerns about the environment have steadily increased due to the impacts caused by human actions. These concerns reflect an urgency in actions to minimize these environmental impacts. There is little scientific research and practical approaches that address the use of Design for Environment (DFE) and Ecodesign in the design of a new product or in the intensification of incremental changes in existing product designs. With this, it is possible to observe a gap in the surveys carried out within the automotive sector. The objective of this research is to evaluate whether the implementation of DfE/Ecodesign practices of the product by companies located in Brazil in the first layer of supply of the Brazilian automotive sector has a positive or negative effect on environmental, environmental and operational performance. Specifically, it seeks to identify which DfE/Ecodesign product practices are more or less used, the level of deployment, and the relationship to organizational performance. The method used to measure this objective will be the survey in companies located in Brazil in the first layer of supply of the Brazilian automotive sector. Initially, a face test was applied with five industry experts to validate the research instrument. After this validation a survey was applied to designers and product engineers located in Brazil, 118 responses were obtained that supported the confirmatory analysis using Smart PLS software in a multivariate analysis. The main contribution of this research is the elaboration of the model of the relations of the constructs, practices DfE/Ecodesing of the product, environmental performance, economic performance and operational performance that can measure the contributions of the constructs to companies of the first layer of supply of the Brazilian automotive sector. The information obtained in this research was used to reinforce concepts conceptually discussed and attributed to the tools and covering the research gap, which allowed to obtain definitive conclusions on the relation of DfE/Ecodesign practices and organizational performance in the Brazilian automotive sector.
